The Korbinian Chapel was a baroque chapel on the southern slope of the Weihenstephaner Hill in Freising, Bavaria. It was built in 1720 by the Asam brothers over the so-called Korbinian Spring, a place that had been considered to have healing properties and attracted pilgrims since the Middle Ages. The chapel was an octagonal central building with a dome and rich interior furnishings. During the secularization, it was largely demolished in 1803; only a few remains of the walls remained. Today, the ruins of the Korbinian Chapel can be reached via walking paths on the Weihenstephaner Slope. A staircase leads from the Hofgarten down to the Korbinian Spring, the spring below the former chapel. The Korbinian Chapel is an important testimony to the religious and architectural history of Freising and commemorates the veneration of Saint Korbinian in the region.

The former gravel pit lake has only been open for swimming since June 2020. Everything still looks very well-maintained and not overcrowded. The water seems to be very clean – a real insider tip (for now). A small circular walk around the lake is about four kilometers long and offers nice views of the turquoise-blue water.
