The Church of St. Matthew in Zolna, which was originally dedicated to St. Stephen the First Martyr, is located on a gentle hill in the middle of the village. It is an early Gothic single-nave church with a polygonal presbytery, a western tower and a northern sacristy. It was built in the second half of the 13th century. The interior contains rare wall paintings dating back to the second half of the 14th century. The church, surrounded by a defensive wall, was visited by Prince Charles in 2000, which contributed to increased attention for this rare sacral building. A comprehensive reconstruction, taking place between 2011 and 2017, helped to return the church in Zolna to its original appearance from the early 14th century. Holy Masses are celebrated here every first Sunday of the month and on the feast of the patron saint of the church - St. Matthew.
