In Camaronal there is the Wildlife Refuge where turtles are cared for. During night hikes, the eggs are collected and protected from raccoons and buried in Heritage until the young hatch. When they are ready, they will be accompanied on their way back to the sea. A really great institution!

Beautiful big beach with a lot of shade and picnic tables. It could be very busy on weekends. For food and drink supply, check very nice supermarket in Puerto Carrillo, right on the main road. At the far west side of the beach there is great camping, Play Carrillo Camp. Excellent price and amazing host. Enjoy and respect.

At the southern end of the beach about 5 km long beach in front of Samara is a small island. Very nice photo opportunity. Popular destination for paddlers, snorkelers and swimmers. The busiest is the late morning on the island, when the whole organized groups are there. After that you have the beach almost all to yourself. (P.S .: Unfortunately, the mark was not put on the island, because I'm swum over and the smartphone was not there.)
