In 1916, the Allgäuer Herdbuchgesellschaft (founded in 1893) received a rare gift from one of its founding members - the Königsalpe. Named after its former owner, Bonaventura König, it is the middle of three alpine pastures in Gschwend, above Trabers-Mutten in the municipality of Stiefenhofen. As a thank you for the donation from B. König in 1916, the breeding association built a chapel right next to the alpine pasture in 1934. It was consecrated in honor of Saint Bonaventura. Via Stiefenhofen from the railway viaduct, the ascent to the Königsalpe is athletically steep, but exclusively off-road. Königsalpe has a great location with good hospitality and a view.
