Wolfgang H. 🥾🚴🏼‍♂️👨🏽‍🦯
April 7, 2026, Königsalpe Gschwend

In 1916, the Allgäuer Herdbuchgesellschaft (founded in 1893) received a rare gift from one of its founding members - the Königsalpe. Named after its former owner, Bonaventura König, it is the middle of three alpine pastures in Gschwend, above Trabers-Mutten in the municipality of Stiefenhofen. As a thank you for the donation from B. König in 1916, the breeding association built a chapel right next to the alpine pasture in 1934. It was consecrated in honor of Saint Bonaventura. The Eistobel is worth a visit in summer and winter, but in winter only with suitable equipment and sure-footedness! There are a lot of icy areas, especially at the waterfalls.

Via Stiefenhofen from the railway viaduct, the ascent to the Königsalpe is athletically steep, but exclusively off-road. Königsalpe has a great location with good hospitality and a view.
