A lovely central square in Kayna, perfect for a short break. There's a small bakery on site.

Unfortunately, no trains stop at Haynsburg station anymore. It's a shame, as Wetterzeube is the next on-demand stop on the Leipzig-Gera line. But if you don't know Haynsburg and the legendary farmer's breakfast there, you haven't seen the 🌍.

The 300-year-old Baroque church is worth seeing. Parts of the Romanesque predecessor can still be found there. The late Gothic carved altar from the early 16th century with its wooden figures is noteworthy. https://www.zeitz.de/Leben/Ortschaften/index.php?object=tx,3429.1.1&ModID=9&FID=3429.341.1&NavID=3429.275&La=1

Milk Bench Fountain, created by Christian Späte in 2004 A brown bench with silver milk cans stands in the middle of the newly designed market in Kayna. If you look closely, you can even see the numerous punctures made by woodworms. Passersby shake their heads in disbelief. "Is that real wood? It'll weather!" No, it isn't. And stonemason Christian Späte isn't even bothered if not everyone recognizes at first glance that the replica milk bench, complete with its many cans, is cast in concrete. That's what the artist intended. And that's not all the surprises. The milk bench can do much more. Properly staged as a fountain, water bubbles from four cans through foam jets. "It looks like milk," explains Späte. With the design of his fountain, for which the Kayna resident received approval from the Kayna municipal council, the stonemason fulfilled a childhood dream. The village in the Schnaudertal valley is a land of milk and honey, where milk flows in streams. https://www.mz.de/lokal/zeitz/in-kayna-sprudelt-die-milch-2924691
