Rou can take the alternative rout over the Bedford Road. This is the opposite side of the river to the "unofficial underpass", which I expect was also flooded.

Nice cafe, conveniently placed at the top of the gravel climb up from the Grand Union Canal! Indoor space isn't huge but there's plenty of outdoor seating.

This old bridge sits over the remnants of an old regional railway line that used to run to/from Towcester and join up with the Northampton to Bedford line near the Yardley Hastings ammo depot. The tracks themselves are long gone but peering over the sides you can see the remains of the old track bed with trees either side going off into the distance.

Been past it a few times just lately (late 2023) and it appears to be closed permanently.

Northampton's first and only floating restaurant! 'Commissioned' for build by Jack Patel in 2006, the boat was completed and moored at its current location in 2014. The boat covers 2 decks, has a licenced bar, vegan cafe, customer toilets on board and can be hired for events, wedding receptions, etc. and has become a bit of a Northampton landmark. https://www.thearknorthampton.com/
