July 18, 2024, Path Through Wheat Field

this section or field is enjoyable to ride through. I had shorts on and was thinking there might be some whiplash type effects when riding through the thigh high corn or wheat. No whiplash, it actually felt nice to ride through.

The photo is form the bottom of Eshott Airfield runway, but the view is looking in the same direction as the aircraft takes off. The airfield is not a busy place, but you can see occasional aircraft using the facility

West Thirston on the south side of Felton is the start of an up and down section ahead. It might be a struggle for some road bikes with high gearing, but passable with effort to many

These are the gates for the eastern entrance to Newton Green, they are always locked. Access can be gained from the other roads that can be seen on the Komoot map

Davison's Obelisk was built in 1807. Located on the south side of Swarland just off the main A1 road turn off. When you take a photo with your bike leaning against the Obelisk, you can see the real size of the structure

The Cook and Barker is a popular bar for meals and a drink. Many people travel in from outside location as this bar is in a village with maybe no more than 50 residents. The car parking areas might fit 20 cars in, it seems to be full often. Many people have good words for the meals here

Approaching Felton from the west side, most of the way here is downhill and easy to ride on. These are quieter back roads
