You can't come to York and not walk some of the walls, the most scenic parts are the North Corner around the Minster on the north side of the city centre. Situated in a particularly pretty spot along the River Foss just north of York is this lockkeeper's cottage. The lock is no longer here but would have existed when the Foss was a canal, carrying cargo up to Strensall It's a pretty spot to pause and relax by the water, perhaps refuelling before continuing on your journey.
