The views are stunning from the top across Annandale, the Solway firth and all the way to the Lake District. If approaching from the south the last km or so is across open moorland without a clear path - look out for the gorse bushes which are hard work to get through without scratches!

Erected in 1896, approximately high, the obelisk on Almagill Hill, commemorates a local master of fox-hounds who died in 1893. There is a dedication below a bronze panel that features a hunting scene. Serves as a great view point and a lovely place to stop for a drink and a rest.

Tundergarth Church is situated in the hills just under 3 miles southeast of Lockerbie town. The church was built in 1770, and may have been rebuilt in 1900. The church is best known today as the site of the Pan Am 103 aircraft crash on the 21st December 1988, that led to the death of all 243 passengers and 16 crew. The nose cone of the Jumbo Jet was found in a field a few hundred yards north of the church. Much of the plane fuselage and passengers were recovered between the church and Lockerbie Golf Club, 3 miles north.

Tundergarth parish church: Scots late Gothic by James Barbour, 1899-1900. Broad-eaved box with walls of crazy-paved rubble and a red-tile ridge on the slated roof. Bracketed wooden canopy over the NW door, Small SE vestry with a rose window. SW tower, presumably less stark before it was harled in 1912. Its battlement has exceptionally broad crenelles; chunky Gothic version of a birdcage bellcote on the NE corner.
