Back open since lockdown and masonry inspections. Check historic Scotland for opening times. I visited again in August 2023. Youll find a surprising amount of castle to see!

Tolquhon Castle remains seem quite impressive. Unfortunately the grounds are closed, so can only observe the castle from the street. Still a good spot to leave the car for a walk. https://www.historicenvironment.scot/visit-a-place/places/tolquhon-castle/

Pitmedden House and Gardens are managed by the Scottish National Trust. The gardens are particularly famous. There is an apple festival at the end of September, and you can try heirloom apples from the orchard. https://www.nts.org.uk/visit/places/pitmedden-garden

A small car park for a few cars to the south. A way marked path around the fields then leads you to the prop, about a 10-20 minute walk up.

Lovely castle run by Historic Scotland. Unfortunately still closed due to covid 19. (June 2021) Hopefully opening soon.
