The bridge and the path in front of and behind it are now accessible again! Unfortunately, there is still a barrier in place that you have to climb over.

Ord Hill is a small but prominent hill - the summit of a forested ridge with views over Inverness. There are two enjoyable waymarked walking routes on the hill, both of which begin from a car park on the northwest side of the hill.

The summit of Ord Hill is the location of an Iron Age fort, neighbouring that at Craig Phadrig over the Beauly Firth. Whilst the summit itself doesn't have the views the hillside is famous for, it's so close to the main viewpoint and such a pleasant forest run, it would be a shame to miss it.

Yes, the forests offer many gentle trails perfect for families. A great option is the Fairy Glen Falls – Fairy Glen Waterfall loop from Fortrose, which is a relatively short and magical walk. The paths are generally well-maintained, making it accessible for most fitness levels.
Dogs are generally welcome in the forests. However, it's important to keep them under control, especially near farmland with livestock or during bird nesting seasons. The varied forest tracks provide excellent walking opportunities for you and your canine companion.
Absolutely. The Fairy Glen is a highlight of the Black Isle, featuring a beautiful waterfall. You can reach it via the Fairy Glen Falls – Fairy Glen Waterfall loop from Rosemarkie, which takes you through enchanting woodland scenery to the falls.
The Black Isle is a haven for wildlife. Keep an eye on the sky for soaring red kites, which are a common sight. The forests are home to red squirrels, and near the coast at Munlochy Bay, you can spot a variety of waterfowl and waders, especially during winter.
Parking is available at the start of many popular routes. For example, there are dedicated car parks in Rosemarkie and Fortrose for accessing the Fairy Glen trails, and informal parking areas near trailheads in Culbokie for routes heading up Mount Eagle. It's best to arrive early on sunny days as spots can fill up.

For panoramic views across the Black Isle and beyond, the hike to the summit of Mount Eagle is highly recommended. On a clear day, the perspective from the highest point on the peninsula is fantastic. The trails around Ord Hill also provide rewarding views over Inverness and the Moray Firth.
