In a situation almost hopeless due to massive emigration, oil was discovered beneath the village. An excellent-quality oil field was discovered near Lovászi, Kútfej, and Tormafölde. The first oil well was put into operation on December 1, 1940. In one year, 22 wells were drilled, all of them successful. The production rate increased dramatically. A factory was also built between the two villages, and a housing development for the employees was built right next door. The "kemp," as the settlement was called by the locals, was a world unto itself. Apartments, shops, social facilities, roads, lighting, and a natural gas pipeline were built. The MAORT company also had a chapel and a school built. The village, which had been doomed to death just a few years earlier, was now reviving. This industry reached its peak in the 1960s. By then, 400 wells had already been drilled, and for a time, it was also the administrative center of the petroleum industry. Since the 1960s, less and less oil has been brought to light, and consequently, many workers have moved away from the village. This trend is unstoppable.

A cool section through the forest, especially in summer temperatures

A bit off the bike path. But the extra meters are not for nothing.

Honestly, one of the nicest bike paths I've seen in the area (although the massive tailwind I had might be skewing my opininon here).
