Brunnwald Castle has a long history, ranging from its construction between 1724 and 1727 to a fire in 1898 and reconstruction in 1905 to a maternity ward, a convalescent home and finally a restaurant. Today you can only admire the castle from the outside. It still somehow has a magical aura!

The street village of Langzwettl has many beautiful farms, the two at the end towards Zwettl still stand out with the flowers and trees on the house wall.

The castle in the forest area of the Brunnwald was built between 1724 and 1727 in the middle of the Brunnwald as a Starhemberg hunting lodge. A fire in 1898 largely destroyed it. In 1905 the palace was rebuilt. The four-storey tower protruding from the wall association comes from the reconstruction. In 1939 the castle was confiscated by the National Socialists and used as a NSV mothers' home. After the Second World War, church services were held in the castle in the Bad Leonfelden area for the Protestants who had come about as a result of the large refugee movements. These were later moved to the market's main school. A maternity ward of the Diakoniewerk was also housed in the castle. In 1955 a Red Cross convalescent home was accommodated, after which the building stood empty for a while. From 1965 to 1982 it was leased to a Spanish association for guests and as a children's home. Source: Wikipedia There was a restaurant in the castle until 2019. Unfortunately, the company had to be closed.
