Tips from the Community

Carlo Cipiciani
January 12, 2026, Maestà delle volte

The name of both the fountain and the street derives from a painting executed around 1330, beneath a vault of the Palazzo del Podestà. It appears to have been created to ward off criminals from that once dark and narrow street. Later, in 1335, the Oratory of the Maestà delle Volte was built to protect the painting. However, it was destroyed in a fire and rebuilt in 1567. The original painting still remains inside today. The street is typically medieval and is one of the access routes to Piazza IV Novembre; walking along it feels like stepping back in time. Even the fountain on Via Maestà delle Volte, despite being built in 1928, seems well-integrated into that historical context.

Small clearing in front of a park, where you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of Trasimeno, just a stone's throw from the center of the village of Castel Rigone. Arriving here from the various points from which it is possible to access it, it deserves a restorative stop for the body and soul

A beautiful view along Strada della Forcella is this panorama that reveals Monte Canneto, a hill that is part of the Tezio group, between sometimes dirt roads and farmhouses that recall a rural past now almost forgotten
