Basedow Castle is a real eye-catcher and beautiful to look at. Together with Lenné Park and the small village with the village church, it forms a wonderful ensemble. Unfortunately, the castle itself can only be partially visited as part of a guided tour. But it is also worth seeing from the outside. There is a small path leading directly around the castle. The park is free and freely accessible and it is also worth taking a long walk here. The reflection of the castle in the adjacent village pond is also beautiful!👌 - why they have created several highlights for the same thing here is a mystery to me, as it is completely unnecessary! -

It is one of the most important castle complexes in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and is today an irregular three-wing complex with a surrounding landscape park with a total area of approx. 200 hectares (Wikipedia).

Very beautiful and picturesque castle in the middle of the village Basedow. A beautiful gem (and once fully restored...). The castle is also surrounded by a well-tended park. And there are some cafes nearby with a view of the castle.

The von Hahn family was resident in Basedow as early as the 13th century and had a castle built here in 1467. The family converted this knight's castle into a representative mansion in the Renaissance style in the 16th century. From 1839 the von Hahns had the manor house, the village and the farm buildings redesigned by Friedrich August Stüler. Between 1835 and 1852, Peter Joseph Lenné laid out the landscape park. In close cooperation with Stüler, a perfect landscape was created in which the buildings, the paths and streams, large stone graves and the remains of the castle fit perfectly. After the south wing of the manor house burned down in 1891, the architect Albrecht Haupt rebuilt the building in the neo-renaissance style. In 1945 some parts of the building were destroyed. The manor house has been a listed building since 1951. Advertised since 1994, the manor house was sold to a businessman from Westphalia, Heinz-Jürgen Beuter, in September 2000. Incidentally, the competitor was also a descendant of Hahn's, namely Eckhard Graf Hahn, whose application was rejected by TLG. In spring 2004 Basedow was auctioned again and has been used privately since then. Source: https://gutshaeuser.de
