Before the French Revolution, the cure was at the collation of the Abbey of Floreffe. The current church is a building with a single nave of squat proportions which would have been built in 1623 (date inscribed on the west portal) on the site of a castle chapel. The old church was located in Vieux-Sautour, in the middle of the current cemetery, and was abandoned when the inhabitants took refuge in the stronghold in the 17th century. The building would have been burnt down around 1870, then restored.
