The old town of Krk, the capital of the Croatian island of Krk, is surrounded by ancient city walls and is a center of history and culture with picturesque streets, squares, historic buildings, and numerous cafes and restaurants. Among the main sights are the 12th-century Frankopan Castle and the Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary, an early Christian basilica built on Roman foundations. Vrbnik has the narrowest alley I've ever seen. Walking through it requires a bit of skill and no rush, but it's definitely worth seeing.

Start at over 30°C at sea level, from an altitude of about 500m, ride in the shade at about 25°C on quiet roads (very nice!). If you're overtaken by a truck in the middle section (road width = about 3.50m), it's best to stop immediately and wait beside the road, as otherwise they'll manage, or try to manage, with about 20cm of clearance...; water requirement: about 4.5 liters (... if you do this often, you'll probably get by with considerably less), ride the lap clockwise, as the climb is longer but not as steep! Good luck!
