A single-nave Baroque church located in Olomouc, Czech Republic. Originally, the site of the current Church of St. Michael was occupied by a Gothic church attached to a Dominican monastery. Numerous fires and the devastating Thirty Years' War caused significant damage to the church, necessitating reconstruction between 1673 and 1699. The church was practically completely rebuilt. Only the bell tower (now open to tourists) and half of the sacristy vault remained from the previous church. The architects of the reconstruction project, Giovanni Pietro Tencalla and later Domenico Martinelli, gave the building a distinctive Baroque character with a richly decorated interior. The new church was crowned with three domes, the largest of which measures 35 meters, making it the first domed structure in Moravia.

A late Gothic, three-nave church located in Olomouc, Moravia, Czech Republic. The church's distinctive feature is its two asymmetrical towers. Archaeological research conducted in 1973 in the square in front of the church revealed traces of human activity dating back to the Neolithic period. Later, at least from the 10th century, a Slavic settlement existed here, in the center of which traces of a Romanesque building were found – possibly religious, perhaps residential (palace of the then feudal lord?). By the 11th century, a church in the form of a Romanesque rotunda had certainly been erected on this site. The first mention of St. Maurice's Church dates back to 1257. The founder of that church, also built in the Romanesque style, was the Bishop of Olomouc, Bruno of Schauenburk.
