An open quay with a clear line along the river, once the heart of a busy port and ferry connection. The shipbuilding and trade that took place here for centuries still give the place a quiet historical undertone. This was also an important point along the Old Crosshaven Railway, whose current greenway route follows the old railway line.

The Monkstown Waterfront Path, going along the Passage West channel in Cork, is a scenic section of the wider Cork Harbour Greenway. It follows the waterfront along the old Cork to Crosshaven railway line, giving you splendid views of Cork Harbour and Monkstown Bay.

You can take the Cross River Ferry from Glenbrook over the River Lee to Carrigaloe on the other side. It takes just five minutes

There's a free parking lot here (cars only) and the opportunity to walk/jog/cycle along the Greenway either toward Carrigaline or Crosshaven (more recommended). What's special about this place is the small, lovingly landscaped park. There are numerous picnic benches, a stunning view of the water, and a lawn for the little ones to play in and a tire to swing on. Even if you don't feel like hiking, you should still stop for a moment to enjoy this beautiful spot – you'll see everything in five minutes, but you'll want to stay much longer.

The former swimming club in Crosshaven can only be guessed at today. In the 1920s and 1930s, sea swimming competitions were held here. The ruins of the former changing house are now part of the path along the beach. A melancholic lost place!

Here the Coastal Path runs right along the edge of the cliffs. The views are stunning! Since you have to concentrate on the uneven path, it is a good idea to take a short rest on one of the few natural stone benches.

The cliffs come a few meters later!! A very photogenic stretch of beach, but not suitable for swimming. At least at low tide you can climb around a bit. The right footwear is a must
