💡The Bolzenschloss Castle was first mentioned in writing in 1374 and belonged to the Duchy of Schweidnitz, owned by the knight Nikolaus Bolze. During the Hussite Wars it served as a retreat for the Hussites and was therefore destroyed by a Schweidnitz army in 1433. Between 1517 and 1518 the castle was rebuilt by Hans von Burghaus. During the Thirty Years' War it was conquered and destroyed by the Swedes in 1645, and then fell into ruin. In 1845 it was partially restored in the romantic style by Wilhelm zu Stolberg-Wernigerode in Jannowitz.
