During the Polish-Teutonic war in the early 15th century, the village was ravaged, because according to the damage book from 1414, its losses were estimated at 1,000 marks. Presumably, the church was also damaged at that time. The temple was again devastated during the Swedish wars in the 17th century and then thoroughly renovated. In the nineteenth century, the building was enlarged by a chapel, and in 1908 a thorough renovation was carried out.

A four-wing Teutonic commander's castle, erected in 1330 on the shore of the Castle Lake. Built in the well-known four-sided form with a corner tower of the "bergfried" type, probably according to the design of the same architect who had previously erected Gniew Castle. During the Polish-Swedish war in 1628, it was seriously damaged during a siege by the Swedes, and then abandoned. Currently, the castle is in ruins.
