St. Catherine's Chapel is the oldest freestanding chapel in Poland, located 2 km from the village of Kurzacze. It was built in the Gothic style in the first half of the 15th century at the initiative of Zbigniew Oleśnicki, Bishop of Kraków. It is an octagonal brick structure with a shingled roof. Inside, there is an altar with a statue of the patron saint, and on the wall above, the founder's coat of arms, Dębno. Below, you'll see a plaque commemorating the victory of Lieutenant Colonel Karol Kalita "Rębajło" at Lubień on January 17, 1864, but with the incorrect information: "Site of the 1863 Uprising Fight." The chapel is located on the blue hiking trail and the green Witold Gombrowicz cycling trail.

The Iłża Forests were the site of many skirmishes and uprising events. Many of them took place along the ancient communication route, the so-called Ostrowiecki Gościniec, between the Barracks and Piotrowe Pole. Perhaps the place commemorates the death or burial place of Sergeant Zacharczeńka, who died in this region. A mention of this event can be found in the publication "Battles and skirmishes 1863-1864 based on printed and handwritten materials of the National Museum in Rapperswil", ed. S. Zieliśki, Rapperswil 1913. While standing in the Iłża Barracks, Czachowski sent Sergeant Zacharczeńka, who had come to the Polish ranks from the Caucasus, along with one cavalryman on a raid into the wilderness, towards Lubinie. Zakharchenko, attacked on a winding forest path by dragoons and Cossacks, when the cavalryman following him managed to escape in time, fought bravely, and after killing several Muscovites, he fell.
