An interesting historical park about the history of World War II. Blizna played a significant role during the war and in the later development of military technology. If you want to visit, check out the park's website: https://www.parkhistorycznyblizna.pl/

CHAPEL OF OUR LADY OF CZĘSTOCHOWA on the Mielec - Kolbuszowa road (Roman Catholic parish of the Holy Trinity), built in 1938-1939 on the initiative and with contributions from workers building the road on the Mielec - Biesiadka section (this is where the border of the Kraków and Lviv voivodeships ran). It was made of concrete, in the shape of an arch. In the central, highest part, there is a plaster, painted bas-relief of Our Lady of Częstochowa (this work was probably created in Tarnów). Three inscriptions were also carved: above the bas-relief - "To God for glory", below the bas-relief - "Happy is he who runs to the Mother", and to its left - "In memory of the construction of the road funded by workers 1938-39". On both sides of this central part, the side walls were lowered three times and they were finished with posts with spherical heads. A shelf was made in the lower part of the front side of the chapel, probably for flowers in vases. Stairs were built to allow safe descent from the road embankment to the chapel. The ceremony of consecration of the chapel took place in May 1939 under the leadership of the parish priest of St. Matthew in Mielec, Fr. Michał Nawalny. The chapel was not damaged during the Nazi occupation. After the front passed through the Mielec region, while wounded Soviet soldiers were being transported from Mielec to Kolbuszowa, one of the soldiers (despite the protests of others) started shooting at the bas-relief of the Virgin Mary for no reason and seriously damaged it. (As an eyewitness testified, one of the bullets ricocheted and injured the shooter's face.) After the war, Jan Szelest from Mielec took care of the chapel and partially repaired the damage, but due to poor health in 1969 he had to give up these laborious duties. Since 1970, another Mielec resident, Jan Gancarz, has taken care of the very neglected chapel and, with the help of other Mielec residents, he has managed to tidy up the area and replace the plaster bas-relief with a painting of Our Lady of Częstochowa, made in sheet metal by a teacher from the Art High School in Sędziszów, and also, among other things, installed a protective roof (with a cross) over the painting. In 1970, Father Antoni Grabiec (from Siedlka) re-consecrated the entire renovated chapel. J. Gancarz did not stop beautifying it and, to commemorate the 600th anniversary of the sanctuary at Jasna Góra, he placed symbolic numbers under the painting: "1382-600-1982"... more at the link https://encyklopedia.mielec.pl/?p=4080
