In the vicinity of the village of Dąbrowa-Moczydły, a heroic battle took place, in which soldiers of the National Armed Forces (Narodowe Siły Zbrojne) and the Civic Home Army (Armia Krajowa Obywatelska) faced units of the Red Army, NKVD, and Civic Militia. On April 30, 1945, near the village of Dąbrowa-Moczydły, a partisan battle took place with units of the NKVD, Red Army, and Civic Militia (MO). Soldiers of the combined units of the National Armed Forces under Warrant Officer Feliks Łuniewski "Żbik" and the Civic Home Army under the command of Second Lieutenant Roman Ostrowski "Wicher", numbering about 60 soldiers, attempted to rescue the inhabitants of the village of Dąbrowa-Łazy who had been arrested for aiding partisans. In the initial phase of the battle, the partisans gained the upper hand, but the situation changed with the arrival of reinforcements. A unit of about 65 soldiers from the Civic Militia, NKVD, and personnel from a nearby airport, equipped with an anti-aircraft gun (so-called "Zenitówka"), arrived from Wysokie Mazowieckie. The soldiers of the freedom underground were forced to withdraw. The shortest retreat route was through the village of Dąbrowa-Moczydły. The Soviets and the forces of the District Public Security Bureau (Powiatowy Urząd Bezpieczeństwa Publicznego) present there directed fire towards the village. The aforementioned "Zenitówka" shelled the village with incendiary projectiles, causing a fire in 18 farmsteads. Already in the initial phase of the battle, the Soviets executed most of the captured prisoners (two managed to escape). The next defenseless victims were civilians. The most blatant manifestation of NKVD brutality was the shooting of Franciszek Zaremba in front of his entire family, who was holding his 10-month-old son in his arms at the moment of his death.

The belfry stands by the parish church, which was built in 1875 according to the design of architect Leander Marconi, with corrections made by architect Stanisław Kucharzewski, the then district builder in Wysokie Mazowieckie. The parish of St. Anne was established in 1523 from the foundation of the Szepietowski and Wojna families. In the history of the parish there were several wooden churches, the last of which was built in 1755 and served the faithful until the construction of the current brick church. This church of St. Anne, built in 1875 according to the design of architect Leander Marconi, was blessed in 1935 by the Bishop of Łomża, Stanisław Łukomski. https://diecezja.lomza.pl/parafie-diecezji-lomzynskiej/ad/parafie,1/dabrowka-koscielna-parafia-pw-sw-anny,27
