Łaśmiady Lake is a large (approx. 900 ha), deep (44m) flow-through lake in the Ełk Lake District, located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. An underwater "jungle" for the demanding: The lake has an extremely complex and capricious bottom topography. Deep, over 40-meter-deep troughs abruptly transition into shallows dotted with large boulders and underwater hills. It is a true paradise for anglers, but requires immense caution from sailors and powerboaters, as stones hidden just below the surface can easily damage the keel or propeller. [1] A hybrid of two worlds: From a geological point of view, Łaśmiady combines the features of a tunnel valley lake and a kettle lake. This means it was formed both by the activity of a river flowing under the glacier (hence the elongated, deep troughs) and by the melting of a huge mass of dead ice left by the retreating glacier (hence the wide expanses and the irregular horseshoe shape). The bridge is damaged, but you can cross it. Of course, at your own risk. In the summer, the riverbed is a bit muddy, with yellow sand and rocks. Access is quite good from both sides. Overall, it's an interesting place, and I recommend the crossing.

Although the section was charming, it took its toll on me. The uphill road and the surface, commonly known as "washboard," certainly don't encourage me to revisit it. I think it could be called a masochist's route for bikes without suspension on the fork and saddle. Difficulty 6/10. Enjoyment 4/10 (only because of the views).

The pedestrian and bicycle footbridge is a world championship

The lake is quite a large reservoir by Polish standards. It has 940 hectares of water surface. The average depth is 9.6 meters, and the maximum is 43.7 meters. The lake is roughly rectangular in shape with a large bay facing north. The main inflow is Łaźna Struga, the upper section of the Ełk River, and the outflow is the Ełk. In the south, the lake connects with Lake Straduńskie by a short section of this river. In the west, it connects with Lake Ułówki by a strait. Lake Łaśmiady is located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, north of Ełk, in the Ełk Lake District. The easiest way to get to the lake is by taking national road no. 65. On the section between Ełk and Olecko, there is the village of Straduny, and here you should turn onto the county road in the direction of Wronki. The lake is about 3 kilometers away. Roads lead along the eastern, north-eastern and southern shores. The rest are forested and inaccessible.
