Window of Hell Waterfall

Highlight • Waterfall

Very nice and exciting hike. The path leads through several tunnels but you can also walk around. Crouching is announced at 1.5m height of the tunnel, flashlight highly recommended. 2 of them about 50m long. Great waterfall "hell window" at the end and aqueducts.

Grota Tunnel

Highlight • Structure

The special kick of the tour is the crossing of the tunnel, which is 72 m long but only approx. 150 cm high. If you stand in front of the tunnel entrance, you can see the other end of the straight tunnels and on bright sunny days it appears as if you could do without a flashlight. In the middle of the tunnel hardly any daylight comes in and even the flashlight is absorbed by the black rock. For taller people, like me, the head was directed more towards the ground instead of looking at the bright glow from the tunnel exit. The special thing about the tunnel is that it transfers you from the cow pastures with stone wall hedges and few trees over a relatively short distance into a gorge with a lush rainforest, where a visitor is surprised by a world of tree ferns, just like one down under in New Zealand has seen in pictures.

The tea plantation Chá Gorreana (Chá is the name for tea in Portuguese) is located on the north side of the island of Sao Miguel.
The mild climate of the island with rain all year round without frost and little too intense sunshine is ideal. In the Gorreana area there are acidic loam soils, a prerequisite for fragrant tea with a pleasant aftertaste. Source: Wikipedia.de

I don't really believe the 150 cm. The tunnel is very low in the middle. But you can go through it even if you're 190 cm tall.

Beautiful waterfall. When it rains a lot, the circular route is not possible because the path further down is then washed away by the stream.

Definitely pay a visit. It is the last tea plantation in Europe. You can look at all the old machines that are still in use today. There is also a café.
