The formal gardens are very pretty and there are also free public toilets there. From the battlements there are good views over Tavira.

The beautiful church, the tower with its impressive "caleidoscope" effect, and the river at high tide are all lovely sights. A little further on are some nice restaurants. Well worth a visit.
