There are several surf schools here...so what are you waiting for? The sea is very shallow here, and it's the best place to learn to surf.

Built in 1927, the Boa-nova Lighthouse is 46 metres high and is one of the highest in the country, at 57 metres above sea level. In 1950 it was electrified and in 1964 it was connected to the public electricity grid, controlling from then on the operation of the Quebra-mar lighthouses, the north and south quays of Leixões and Felgueiras, thus constituting the first remote control network installed in the country.

Today, Leça da Palmeira pays tribute to him through the sculptures located in the area surrounding the Boa Nova Lighthouse. The sculptures, representing the poet and his inspiring muses, are from 1974, by the sculptor Barata Feyo. Also in the Boa Nova area, carved into one of the rocks on the beach, we have a marble plaque reproducing part of one of his sonnets that evokes this very beach. On the beach there in Boa Nova, one day, I built (that was the great evil) A tall castle, which is fantasy, All of lapis lazuli and coral!

This is the second largest lighthouse in Portugal (the largest is Barra, in Aveiro), measuring 46 metres high and with 213 steps on a spiral staircase. Its light beam extends for over 28 nautical miles, meaning it is visible from over 52 kilometres away. The spiral staircase is 46 metres high, or 225 steps to be exact, but for those who are not in good shape there is a lift to enjoy the superb view that awaits you. It has an average light beam of 39 miles. Inaugurated in 1927, the Leça da Palmeira Lighthouse (Boa-Nova) is still in operation today, despite being a monument of industrial archaeology. In the north, it was the first electric lighthouse to appear and in the past it was an air-sea lighthouse and the headquarters of a school for lighthouse keepers.
