Im Jahr 1994 wurde die Ausgrabung von Erz im Bergwerk Mežica beendet. Das Wasser wurde nicht mehr aus dem Bergwerk ausgeleitet, deswegen wurden die unteren Teile vollständig überflutet. Dieses unterirdische Abenteuer beginnt vor dem Bergbaumuseum in Glančnik in Mežica. Die Besucher steigen in eine echte Grubenbahn, die durch den 3,5 km langen Stollen Gačnik bis zu einem schrägen Stollen, genannt Unionski vpadnik führt. Von hier geht man eine Treppe hinunter (95 m), die zum Wasser führt. An dieser Stelle erhalten alle Besucher die notwendige Schutzausrüstung (Neoprenschuhe, Schwimmwesten und Bergbauhelme mit Stirnlampen). Dann treten Sie in einen überfluteten Stollen, wo besondere Kajaks für zwei bis drei Personen schon auf Sie warten. Ihr Guide führt Sie einen kleinen unterirdischen Fluss entlang, bis Sie die magische unterirdische Seen fast 700 m unter der Oberfläche erreichen. Nun können Sie das ruhige und unberührte Wasser genießen und das unterirdische Labyrinth, überflutete Stollen und Ausgrabungsstätten erforschen. Um die Tour zu beenden, paddeln Sie durch einen schmalen Durchgang und über einige kleineren Stromschnellen bis Sie schließlich zurück an den Ausgangspunkt gelangen. Nach dem die Kajakfahrt beendet ist, machen Sie einen Spaziergang an die verlassenen unterirdischen Arbeitsstellen vorbei und bis zum Bahnhof. Nach dem Sie als ein echter Bergmann zu Mittag gegessen haben, folgt noch ein Museumrundgang, wo Sie eine Reihe von interessanten Sammlungen bewundern können. Diese zeigen das tägliche Leben und die Arbeit der Bergleute im Innersten der Petzen, sowie kostbare Erzen und Mineralien. Die gesamte Tour dauert 4 Stunden. Eine Gruppe kann aus max. 10 Personen bestehen. Die Altersgrenze beträgt 10 Jahre (mindesthöhe von 1,50 m). Besucher müssen angemessene Kleidung und Schuhe tragen. Die Durchschnittstemperatur im Bergwerk beträgt 10 °C. Bergwerkstour mit dem Kajak ist nur nach vorheriger Absprache möglich.
