Nice beach, with life guards. Good starting point for the trail heading to the hidden beach and the colored beach.

The Hidden beach, popular anyway, swimmable most of the time (any way not every day please use caution). The trail to get there add some charm to this beach.

Beach named after the color of the sand. Dangerous for swimming.

Make sure that you get there early, wear double socks and take water with you. If you are coming from the lighthouse to "El bosque seco", make sure to take the Rocky trail.

Don't rush in the beginning because when arriving by the lighthouse there's a good hill both ways.

This easy 2.5-mile (4.0 km) path connects the main beach to quieter, secluded coves that are perfect for a family day out.

Can I find hikes with waterfalls or natural waterslides?

What are the hiking options within the Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve?

The Reserva Natural Cabezas de San Juan offers a unique hiking experience through diverse ecosystems like dry forests and mangroves. While some areas require a guided tour, which you should book in advance, the reserve has well-maintained boardwalks and trails. A highlight is the historic Fajardo Lighthouse, which provides panoramic views of the coast.

Are there any challenging hikes in the area?

Most trails directly around Las Croabas are easy to moderate, focusing on coastal scenery rather than significant elevation gain. For a slightly more demanding trek, consider the La Zanja loop from Cabezas. This 5.5-mile (8.8 km) moderate hike involves walking over rugged volcanic rock formations along the coast.

What should I know about the trail to La Zanja?

The trail to La Zanja is an unofficial coastal path that leads to a stunning natural pool protected from the open ocean by a rock barrier. The route is not formally marked, so it offers a sense of discovery. You can start from Seven Seas Beach and follow the coastline. Be prepared for walking on uneven volcanic rock.

Are there circular hiking routes available?

Yes, many of the best trails in the area are loops, allowing you to enjoy a varied walk without retracing your steps. A great example is the La Zanja loop from 7 Mares, a 3.3-mile (5.3 km) circular path that takes you through coastal vegetation to the famous natural pool.

What kind of footwear is best for hiking in Las Croabas?

For most trails, sturdy walking shoes or hiking sandals are sufficient. However, for routes like the one to La Zanja that cross sharp volcanic rock, closed-toe shoes with good grip are strongly recommended. If you plan to visit waterfalls or natural pools, water shoes can also be very useful.

Are the trails suitable for beginners?

Definitely. Las Croabas is a great destination for new hikers. Most routes, like the Hiking loop from Soroco, feature minimal elevation gain and are well-suited for a leisurely walk. The region offers a fantastic introduction to coastal hiking in Puerto Rico.
