A historic workers' settlement from the 1920s at approximately 500 meters above sea level, it is characterized by the original basalt houses of the former quarry colony. From 1952 to 1965, there was a school here for the children of the quarry workers. Tip: Combine your visit with the popular hike or bike ride up to the top – the combination of impressive architecture, gentle elevation, and idyllic location makes the Schneeweiderhof a special stopover.

📝 Right at the beginning of the Roman tour, you'll discover a small, lovingly designed garden on the right. Two gnomes stand there holding a "Welcome" sign, as if they were personally greeting hikers. A charming little touch that immediately brings a smile and demonstrates how much passion has gone into this town. 💡 Tip: If you look closely, you'll often find the most beautiful details right at the beginning.

📝 The Sachsbachtalhütte is idyllically located on the edge of the Roman Tour – and is more than just a refuge. In addition to approximately 45 seats, there is a barbecue area, a playground, and even restroom facilities. According to the price list on the notice board, drinks are very reasonably priced (self-service refrigerator). The hut can also be rented for private parties. The contact person is the mayor of Elzweiler (Tel. 06387/993970). It is particularly family-friendly and well-maintained. 👉 The turnoff to the hut is well signposted, but the path takes a few minutes – if you want to stop for a bite to eat, you should plan ahead. 💡 Tip: A playground festival will be held here on May 24, 2025 – perfect for a rest stop with children or for a little extra point on the hike.
