Totally fine on a road bike. Traveling westbound, the first stretch of the path is straight and fast, and the back half wi as it's way through sparse woods. Very nice respite from car traffic.

Shark River Pond is at the northern end of 991-acre Shark River Park. The small reservoir features some beat-down dirt trails next to the water that you can access from the main Bridge Loop path.

Though the main attraction in Shark River Park is the pond, there are a bunch of hiking and running trails on the other side of Schoolhouse Road that create different distance loops. There is a lot of tree cover along the trails, and you can choose from a couple different paths that follow streams.
