Breathtaking views from this vantage point across Squam Lake. The path to get there is also very entertaining, highly recommended for the whole family!

Steep trail to the top of West Rattlesnake. In one or two places both hands have to come to the rescue. May be less usable in rain or mud. Well marked by markers. At the top you are rewarded with a wonderful view. If you like it a little less steep, you should rather take the well-developed Old Bridle Path. Ramsey Trail is also easily accessible via the Undercut Trail from the “West Rattlesnake Mountain Trailhead” hiker's car park, making it a nice little round trip

A number of these are pretty tight squeezes, and your backpack will need to come off. Avoid in wet weather, as there is some steep bouldering in addition to the tight spaces. So much fun, but take the time to ensure you are following the markers.

Within the West Rattlesnake Natural area you will find here a splendid view of this large lake. Just north of Meredith and south of the White Mountain National Forest, the peaceful Squam Lake was the setting for Henry Fonda's latest film, "The Lake House," shot with his daughter Jane and the great Katharine Hepburn. It is possible to approach the "family" cottage and the site of the shooting, by boat.
