The Buchstein rocks are a protected natural monument and a geotope located near Bayreuth. This striking rock formation consists of sandstone from the so-called Bayreuth Formation (Rhaetian-Lias or lowest Lias). The rocks, reaching up to 10 meters in height, exhibit particularly beautiful cross-bedding, honeycomb weathering, and limonite crystallization. A popular hiking destination, the rocks are characterized by their location in the middle of a forest and constantly offer new perspectives due to weathering processes. A historic water reservoir dating from 1893 is also located nearby.

More than quaint, a bit run down, but good food, cakes and drinks.

There is no view, but it is still nice to have climbed a summit.

I ran the new, easy access to Bärenleite from the very top. The Blue Pony course has 10 hand-shoveled banked turns. All created by volunteers.
