Mühlenkopf Ski Jump and Willingen Skywalk

Highlight • Structure

If you pass the mighty ski jump in Willingen by bike or on foot, you will be amazed. The huge facility towers imposingly into the sky, almost as if it were touching the clouds. Right next to it, the Skywalk floats like a narrow bridge over the trees and offers a magnificent view of the Upland. From down here, it all seems almost surreal - and really makes you want to climb up yourself.

In misty or foggy weather you can actually save the summit, but the rather dense forest around it is very mystical.

In clear weather, the view in the west to the Palatinate Forest and its highest mountain, the Donnersberg. Northwest you can see the Taunus, while to the north the skyscrapers of Frankfurt can be seen. The latter, however, much better from the castle Alsbach, as you have to see from Melibokus through some trees.

Winterstein tower

Highlight • Viewpoint

Today's observation tower is already the third at this point and was built in 2005. You have a great view of Frankfurt, up to the Staudinger power plant in Groß-Auheim, large parts of the Wetterau and over to the Hausbergturm over Hochweisel. There are benches on the upper platform, but you can also have a picnic on the rocks in front of the tower. About 50 meters further there are two more benches with a table.

In addition to the beautiful view and the rest areas, there is another station on the Wildkatzen-Weg.

Flowtrail Feldberg

Highlight (Segment) • MTB Park

The Feldberg Flowtrail is a beautifully designed flow trail for experienced mountain bikers who like to jump or take a berm. The trail is fun despite its many roots and the nice thing is the bike path to the Fuchstanz runs right next to it, which means if you want to ride again, you can just go back up and do the whole thing again. This is theoretically also possible by car, but we are here to ride our bikes, aren't we? I have to say that some features on the trail are a bit on the small side, including the corners, so ride slowly the first time. Otherwise, the trail is constantly maintained. At the beginning of the trail is an information board where you can find out about the rules and which trail color is suitable for whom. Most of the time it is very pleasant to drive here, even for beginners.
I wish everyone a lot of fun on the trail!

The Schläferskopf is a 454.2 m high "mountain" in the Taunus. It is located near Klarenthal in the region of the Hessian state capital Wiesbaden.
The mountain name refers to the dormice living there. On the mountain stand the observation tower Kaiser Wilhelm Tower and the Waldrestaurant Schläferskopf Gold. (Http://schlaeferskopf-gold.de/)
In the mountain interior is the Schläferskopfstollen.
Here also starts the first official MTB Downhill track in the area:

Several routes of the Willingen bike park start up here. Among them is the brand new Flow Country Trail, which really lives up to its name. I was there in the spring and had a lot of fun. If it is well maintained, it is highly recommended, and is especially fun for beginners and kids.

Moonbeam🌜
June 19, 2023, Ettelsberg

The Ettelsberg summit and its northern slope are covered by a high heath landscape, the other mountain slopes are wooded. On the north slope is part of the Willingen ski area, for example with the Ettelsberg cable car leading from Willingen up the mountain. Several forest and hiking trails open up the mountain. The 59 m high Hochheideturm, inaugurated in 2002, is near the mountain peak and offers a good all-round view over large parts of the Rothaargebirge, Hochsauerland and Upland. The glazed viewing platform at a height of 875 m can be reached either with an eight-person elevator or via 241 steps. There is a climbing wall at the tower. The Mühlenkopfschanze in Willingen, built in 1951, is the largest large hill in the world, since distances of more than 150 m are possible. Since May 2003 it is the only large hill next to the old ski flying hill in Planica that has a K-point of 130 meters.
