June 1, 2025, Lafayette Cemetery No. 1

Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 is located in New Orleans' Garden District and was established in 1833. On a single block, there are approximately 1,100 family plots, many of which have been used for generations. The cemetery is known for its dense development, clearly structured pathways, and some of the elaborately designed gravesites. The site has been used as a filming location several times: scenes for Interview with the Vampire, Double Jeopardy, The Originals, and Dracula 2000, among others, were shot here.

The Tree of Life is a well known oak in Audubon Park. It is a popular site for visitors and locals to visit. The tree was planted around 1740.

This pleasant park in the heart of Uptown New Orleans is mostly frequented by residents and students from the nearby Tulane and Loyola universities, although tourists also come to admire its magnificent oak trees. The park has a 1.8-mile paved loop that is most useful for jogging and rollerblading but can be cycled as well for a quick tour of the park.

Algiers is the second oldest neighborhood in New Orleans and well worth a visit at the end of your ride (or even as a break in the middle). Your pace will be slowed down here and you will want to linger wandering amongst the old wooden houses and discovering its history with music.

You would not necessarily expect it, but St. Charles Avenue is amazingly good for running - at least in the morning or on the weekend before the tram leaves, then the tracks, between which grass grows, are busy running. I could not figure out if this practice is allowed, but just turned to the locals! Therefore, you can do this at your own risk, or simply use the sidewalks - but pay attention to arched and cracked concrete slabs!

Nice run goal, or runway, if you like less through the city. Has a special flair in the dark, the partially illuminated trees are very impressive.

In the charming Garden District, oak-shaded streets are lined with a diverse mix of homes, from single-story cottages to the grand historic mansions and lavish gardens of St. Charles Avenue. Take the St Charles Streetcar so that you can view the houses and just get off when you want to take a closer look.

Historic 19th-century cemetery with above-ground tombs & statuary characteristic of the area. Address: 1416-1498 Washington Ave, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA. I visited in October 2018, and it was very warm, so make sure you have water. There was a guy selling small bottles for one dollar so not bad, and it was cool. The Cemetery is large and well worth a visit.
