Hohenurach Castle Ruins

Highlight • Castle

A really large ruin complex of the former prison fortress Hohenurach. The Urach waterfall can be seen and heard from there. There are still some rooms, cellars, dungeons, and open spaces to explore, and the ruin is definitely worth a detour. Until 2024, the castle ruins will still be renovated in four construction phases. However, only a very small part is always enclosed by scaffolding, which does not detract from the experience at the castle. We found it exceptionally beautiful and interesting. The spiral staircases are often very small and narrow, so clothing that can get a bit dirty should be worn. Otherwise, everything is very easily accessible.

Neidlingen Waterfall

Highlight • Waterfall

The ascent to the waterfall alone is worth it: very steep over a lot of roots. The steps up were their own waterfall in late December - the bridge over the creek was very slippery as it was frozen. Walking down this path is not easy, especially when it is wet. But there is an alternative way.

Sonnenbühl fog cave

Highlight • Cave

A very beautiful cave that can be visited without a guide. Several smaller side paths give you a sense of discovery, rather than being rushed through. Sturdy footwear is recommended for certain paths, as they can be slippery. Furthermore, the ceiling height is very low in some places.

The Maultaschenwirt is located in the large square in front of the cave. Right next to it is a nice children's playground.
