Renchtal Hut and Goat Enclosure

Grüble Saddle (Feldberg Massif)

Highlight • Mountain Pass

The Feldberg has several secondary peaks that together form an elongated massif. Between the Feldberg summit and the Vorberg Seebuck there is a depression or saddle for which the two spellings Grueble and Grüble have become established. From here there is a broad view of the television tower and Friedrich-Luise-Turm on the Feldberg summit as well as the observation tower, mountain station of the cable car and the Bismarck monument on Seebuck. Or it is fog and at most you can guess something.

Seibelseckle Rest Hut

Highlight • Mountain Hut

Cozy cabin for a drink or something to eat. Small hot dishes are also served. It is the ideal starting point for the most famous hikes around Mummelsee and Hornisgrinde! The hut is open all year round in the summer months even without a rest day! Die Rasthütte Seibelseckle is located directly on the schwarzwaldhochstraße and there is a fairly large car park nearby.

Rest Area at Rinken Pass

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The Rinken at 1196 m altitude or the pass of the same name is located at the northern foot of the Feldberg. The ascent from Oberried (on the Notschrei north ramp) through the deep Zastlertal is certainly one of the toughest climbs that the Black Forest has to offer for racing bikes. In the upper area the road is not asphalted for a few hundred meters - but the forest path is easy to ride on a racing bike.

Wiedener Eck Pass

Highlight • Mountain Pass

Also to be recommended as a starting point for smaller and larger circular walks. The Wiedener Eck can also be reached by bus from Münstertal (line 291) and Wieden (line 7306). A plaque directly at the stops informs about these trails.

As the landmark of the Dreisamtal, the Hinterwaldkopf is a popular panoramic mountain. Here is an alpine restaurant belonging to the Weilersbacher Weidegemeinschaft and you can catch a great view of the Kandel.

Climb to Haldenhof/Kreuzweg Pass from Münstertal

Highlight (Segment) • Mountain Pass

The road through the small Münstertal is definitely recommended. A sharp climb through the alpine-looking valley head quickly brings you close to the 1,000 meter mark, which you just miss at the top of the pass at Gasthof Halde. If you like, you can correct this with the remaining climb to the Way of the Cross. The road is in pretty bad condition in the lower part (12/2022), so the descent requires more caution and is not quite as fun as it would be with better asphalt.

Brandstetter Chapel

Highlight • Religious Site

The Brandstetter Chapel is located on the Baden Wine Route on the pass between the Durbach and Rench valleys. In an east-west direction you reach Moos and Staufenberg Castle.

Kreuzweg Pass Summit

Highlight • Mountain Pass

Wonderful pass ride, from Badenweiler with an almost alpine difference in altitude and thanks to the rock faces at the roadside and the Sirnitzalm you sometimes actually feel like you are in the high mountains. At the moment (05/2020) the lower half of the Badenweiler route is in poor shape, the upper half is great, as is the descent to Neuenweg. Also very popular with the motorcycle group.

Also 3/24 still holey asphalt. Better up the mountain and via Utzenfeld - Wiedener Eck back to the Münstertal.

Once you reach the top of the pass - no matter which side - it's worth taking a break to enjoy the view 😎

This section has finally been repaved (July 2023), so you can ride down it on a racing bike – to the first farm on the right – without having to stress about finding usable gaps between the potholes. The fact that this was actually completed in our country within four weeks as announced thanks to the full road closure gives us hope again 🙂. Bravo and thanks to the planners and road builders! This is also good for the uphill section, of course, but it's less important. The next section is supposedly scheduled to be resurfaced in 2024. We'll see.

From Bad Krozingen up via the Münstertal, then the dilapidated road surface is no problem and then back via Badenweiler. Nice evening tour with very little traffic. Departure to Badenweiler is very good

Daniel
February 19, 2023, Kreuzweg Pass Summit

The ascent over the Sirnitz with the Kreuzweg pass height is an absolutely recommendable section, both from the west of Badenweiler and from the east of Neuenweg or also from the small Münstertal to the north, which is ideal for every Black Forest tour. Currently (02/23) the route from Badenweiler to Neuenweg is in top condition, all construction sites have been completed. Half of the descent down to the Münstertal is very old, if possible plan it as an ascent rather than a descent.

Meanwhile (Nov. 2022) the lower section of the ascent from Badenweiler to the Eselsweg has also been resurfaced, so nothing is missing from the true RR dream road. Absolute recommendation!
