The Chapel of St. Gertrude is a late Gothic chapel dating from around 1420 and is one of the best-known historical buildings in Wolgast. It is considered an outstanding example of North German Brick Gothic. The chapel is built with a twelve-sided floor plan and is architecturally based on the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. It was probably founded by Duke Wartislaw IX after a pilgrimage. It formerly belonged to a hospital outside the town walls for travellers and pilgrims. Today it stands in the Old Cemetery on Chausseestraße in Wolgast and is occasionally used for cultural events and tours. Source: Wikipedia
