The upper outer harbor at the Herne-Ost lock was the canal harbor of the former Friedrich der Große mine, which was connected to the Rhine via the RHK. The wide water area of the outer harbor area is now used as a marina and is also known as the Herner Meer. Beautiful cycle paths. Great views.
