The historic market square in Wittlich is a small gem of art history. Opposite the Old Town Hall stands today's Hotel Well. The magnificent Renaissance building was formerly known as "Zum Wolf." Next to it is a simple 18th-century Baroque building, the former Neuerburg House. The Baroque building on the long side was built as a post office in 1753 by the Fier family. There are two comfortable curved benches here. I needed a rest as just before reaching this point you have to climb a very difficult section up through a ravine where the surface is very poor. The views at these benches looks through distant mountains and are worthy views
