Silver Comet Trail is one of the best long-distance paved trails I ever took. What I love most about this trail is that you can ride for miles without worrying about traffic, thanks to its wide, smooth path built on a former railroad corridor. One of the highlights is passing through the historic Brushy Mountain Tunnel, a 768-foot tunnel that stays cool even on hot summer days. The trail also offers beautiful views of forests, open farmland, and several wooden bridges along the way. If you're training for a long ride or just want a peaceful day on the bike, Silver Comet Trail is hard to beat.

The Silver Comet Trail's Eastern Terminus is in the center of Smyrna. There is no parking or restrooms at the trailhead, but there are many restaurants and stores around. If you want to continue your ride, the trail connects with the Cumberland Connector, which takes you about five miles along the southern outskirts of Smyrna.

It’s easy to lose the path; sections are very poorly marked or not marked at all.

At the Visitor Center of the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park you can learn about the history of the former Civil War battlefield. Inside the visitor center there is a permanent exhibition, and around the center various information boards provide information about the events of 1864.

This quiet, paved rail trail is open to almost all non-motorized uses. Long sections of it wind through forested greenways, making for a really nice ride.
