It's a great choice for a moderate 5.6-mile (9.0 km) jogging route, with minimal elevation gain of 31 feet (9 metres), typically taking around 55 minutes.
Before you go, be aware that Caspersen Beach Park and its amenities are currently closed due to hurricane damage, with a projected reopening in 2027. Access to the beach from the Venetian Waterway Park Trail is also closed. Your best bet for accessing the beach is to park at South Brohard Park and walk or cycle south along the Venetian Waterway Trail for about a mile. This route is best enjoyed in the cooler parts of the day, and remember to bring plenty of water.
Caspersen Beach is globally famous as the "Shark Tooth Capital of the World," so keep an eye on the darker, coarser sand for fossilized treasures. Beyond the ancient shark teeth, the trail system is also a known habitat for gopher tortoises, offering excellent opportunities to spot these protected reptiles and their tunnels, especially along the west side of the Venetian Waterway Trail.
