Philippe Park has all of the usual park amenities such as picnic area, a playground, and trails. However, this park also has a lot of history discover. Not only is it the oldest park in the county it is also home to the Tocobaga Temple Mound, which is the largest remaining Native American mound remaining in the Tampa area.

Starkey Ranch, adjacent to the JB Starkey Preserve, is a lovely community with a rich history. It is part of the former CS Ranch founded by Jay Starkey in 1937 for cattle ranching, which is now split between the preserve and this neighborhood in homage to his heritage. There are multiple parks, hiking, and bike trails, and an original plaque from 1965 as a tribute to those who helped Starkey with the operation property.

The bridge north of the landfill is closed for construction until 2025, making the trail impassible through this area. The rest is still good.
