There are a bunch of great hiking and biking trails around the reservoir. Some, like the Shore Trail, are two-lane paved cycleways with no vehicle traffic, and others are unpaved dirt roads up in the hills. All are beautiful trails to explore on two wheels!

Throughout the hike, you'll encounter amazing views of the Lafayette Reservoir and the city. The trail features plenty of up and down hills, providing a nice challenge. Since most of the trail is uncovered, it offers unobstructed views, but be sure to bring a hat and sunscreen on a hot day to stay protected.

The two side-by-side ponds are named Twin Ponds, offering a delightful spot to observe and enjoy the area's beautiful brown-blue contrast between the water and the grassy surroundings. During winter, the ponds reach their fullest capacity.

Only when you come in winter, spring, or autumn, will you find two tiny ponds at this location. During summer, the Twin Ponds are dried out.

Large staging area on the south side of the Briones Reservoir, some hundred feet above the water level with a somewhat overgrown view of the lake and the dam to the left. It gives access to hiking trails which unfortunately are closed to bikes: the Oursan Trail which circles the reservoir clockwise, and the Bear Creek Trail, which runs counter-clockwise.
