The views from the bridge are fantastic looking both way, where you can see the lake and river feeding into it. Keep your eye out for people fishing on the shores too.

This trail is a mixture of paved and gravel and follows the south bank of the Santa Maria River. It's perfect for a traffic free cycle with panoramic views of surrounding hills and empty countryside.

Pismo Beach is located south of San Luis Obispo. It stretches over 360 meters and is very popular with surfers. The immense wooden pontoon and the sign in large red letters are its distinctive feature. The beach is very popular and often crowded. Further south, you will find deserted stretches of beach, and others which are accessible to motorized vehicles and which I do not recommend. You will also find an absolutely incredible monarch butterfly sanctuary there.
