From the top of the dam you can see down either side of Lopez Lake and Lopez Canyon. Rather unusually, the dam on Arroyo Grande Creek has a grassy face and a road that switchbacks up it from the creek below.

Fisherman's Beach is the smallest beach in the Avila and Port San Luis Harbor. No dogs are allowed on this beach but it can be a great spot to catch a sunset or enjoy the ocean.

The original breakwater was built between the 1890s and 1913 to protect the harbor from large waves and heavy surf, and it still serves its purpose today. It’s not as touristy as some other locations, making it an ideal spot to take a break and walk on the pier. It’s also a fantastic place to see the sunset if you’re lucky enough to be here in the evening.
