The Parc de la Barrière is a handy gateway into the greener side of the Beauharnois Canal. In winter, the nearby O-Ti-Bois Vert network offers 8 kilometres of marked trails for snowshoeing, fat biking, and backcountry-style cross-country skiing. Flat terrain and canal-side scenery make it an easy place to trade streets for snow and trees.

At Halte des Tisserands, a trail break comes with a thread of Valleyfield history. The name recalls the city’s cotton and manufacturing past, while Le Relais des Amitiés sculpture turns that story into outdoor art: part ship, part railway, part old factory, with woven friendship bracelets worked into the piece.

Bring binoculars to Halte du Héron on the Saint-Timothée Marsh. A trail crosses this wildlife-rich wetland, where great blue herons nest in spring and migrating geese, ducks, marsh birds, and raptors bring plenty of movement throughout the year. The observation tower gives an even better look across the reeds and open water.

Parc Delpha-Sauvé is Valleyfield’s green heart, wrapped in water between the old Beauharnois Canal and Baie Saint-François. Its paths weave among mature trees, including unusual species planted when the park was created, with waterfront views appearing in almost every direction. A surprisingly leafy place for a walk right beside downtown.

A cute place to stop for lunch, there's a lighthouse, and benches. There's also a cute campsite if you go down the road, and if you wake up early enough, you can go next to the waterfront and watch the calm water and the sun rise behind the lighthouse at Village des Écluses.
