Here you can see seals with their young on the sandbank at low tide. A look through the telescope is certainly worthwhile and don't forget a long telephoto lens for the photos.

From here you have a beautiful view over the Western Scheldt; that applies to this entire dike path, by the way. So close to the major port city of Antwerp, you might just spot a large ship. Or the Drowned Land of Saeftinghe in the distance: the largest brackish marsh in Western Europe.

At low tide, when the sandbar dries out, seals lie on the sand. Sometimes there are more than 40 seals. There are now binoculars so you can see the seals clearly. Easily accessible by bike or on foot.

A hotel/apartment building built in the style of a lighthouse. The ground-floor brasserie with terrace is beautifully situated with sea views. Prices are reasonable. Dogs even get a treat from the owner.

Out of use, plans for demolition. In 2000, the Dutch Reformed Church of Rilland-Bath was closed. Demolition was to follow. That was stopped. Then there was talk of building apartments. Only the tower would remain standing. The church is now seriously dilapidated. And a clear decision has not yet been made. The church itself was completely demolished. In the meantime, the (preserved) tower was completely covered in scaffolding and green mesh.
