The Jan Hop ferry takes cyclists, pedestrians and mopeds/scooters/motorcycles across the waterway ‘De Vinkenhop’ between Spijkerboor and De Rijp. The ferry is part of the ferry routes around the Alkmaarder- and Uitgeestermeer. * For safety reasons, it will no longer be possible to pay in cash as of 1 July 2024. Payment can then only be made by PIN

❗ATTENTION:❗ The ferry is currently "out of service" -- and it seems to have been that way for a while, judging by the weed-covered nature of the area! A detour of a few kilometers is necessary, as there is neither another ferry nor a bridge nearby!

Beautiful along the ring canal with the Graftdijken on the other side. And don't forget the sluice: a lesson in water management

This existing meadow bird area of Staatsbosbeheer and the Agrarische Stichting Blaricum is being redesigned to increase the quality of the nature reserve. Many meadow birds breed in nature reserve De Kampen, but far too few young birds survive to maintain the population. By better designing the area and wetting it in the spring, meadow birds can find sufficient food, breed and grow up.

The passage with the hand crank takes a surprisingly long time, since the translation is quite large.
